While hiking the other day, I stumbled upon this doe and it stood up and stared at me from about 15 yards away for almost twenty minutes.  We snorted and stomped our feet at each other about two dozen times.  I think she was more confused by me copying her actions, that she didn't know what to do.  Finally, I just told her goodbye and I slowly walked away.  Cool thing was that once I was out of sight behind some trees and bushes, she got curious and followed me off to my side for about 50 yards.  She kept in the woods, but she was not shy about showing herself to me.  Very cool experience.

As I was passing this on the highway today, I barely had time to grab the camera and snap a blind shot out the passenger window.  This was the result.  Just in case you are curious, Yes, the rest of the car looks the same!

Awesome Find!

A buddy of mine found this at a garage sale where the woman was going to throw it out if it didn't sell.  He felt guilty giving her only a dollar for it.  New tires and a new shifting cable, and it is like brand new.  He keeps it folded up in the back of his tiny sedan trunk.  Very handy!

I Saved This Tree

I came upon this tree after a planned prairie burn was done in the area.  When I arrived, I found this one and only tree was still slowly burning through the bark.  It took about ten minutes to pry back the coals and get it completely stopped.  As you can see, this is the only tree for about a quarter mile in this field, and it would have been pretty sad to see it burn down.
